Welcome to our blog on CNC milling.
Let's start off with the introductions : 'we' are two Dutch guys, Koen Smidt and Bob Lucassen, who are prototyping a DIY CNC router.
I (koen smidt) am responsible for the hardware side of the project, although I am involved with the coding of the GUI to learn a bit more about coding.
Bob lucassen is responsible for the software side of the project, although he gets involved with the hardware too.
Don't get too excited by the title, we are still in the prototyping phase; what we do have is a 3 axis CNC router working solidly at this time, and the 4th axis is about to be realized.
We are also writing our own CAM software, and a solid GUI to control CNC routers.
Our ambition is to have robust 5 axis milling with ~0.05 mm precision, ~300x300x200mm range and rock solid idiot-proof software for an affordable price.
And the best part is that everything is open source.
